Begin with Si Moussa
The earliest documented nucleus was built for Si Moussa, grand vizier under Sultan Muhammad IV. Its large riad and northern court became part of the later complex.
Follow Ba Ahmed’s expansion
Ba Ahmed joined additional properties and coordinated rooms, gardens and craft under architect Mohammed Ben Mekki Mesfioui. The result grew in phases rather than from one symmetrical master plan.
